Standard with many extras.

The Shichirin comes standard with table protector, roasting tongs and 2 tweezers: one straight and one curved. In Japanese grilling culture, each tweezer has its own function. The straight tweezers are used when garnishing & placing raw ingredients accurately, while the curved tweezers are used for moving cooked ingredients without damaging them.

Perhaps the best part: the BestCharcoal Shichirin comes complete with skewer rack and 10 steel skewers. So you can effortlessly prepare authentic yakitori, juicy satay or other delicious grilled delicacies on the skewer. The rack ensures that the skewers hang perfectly above the charcoal, so that your ingredients cook evenly.

Using Binchotan charcoal

When you start using the Japanese grill, you need a special type of charcoal: Binchotan charcoal. This charcoal is made from a special Japanese oak, the Ubame oak. This charcoal is only produced in the south-west of Japan. By locals here, the charcoal is made by hand in large clay kilns. Then, using kilns, they draw the moisture out of the wood very slowly. This process takes 14 days. This makes the charcoal extremely hard and therefore you can grill much longer with this hard charcoal than with any other charcoal. Because of this process, real Japanese Binchotan is very expensive and exclusive. It is almost impossible to get hold of even. That is why we sell various alternatives from other countries.
