Konro grill

The uniqueness of Japanese barbecue

In the 18th century, this particular Japanese BBQ was developed. But it was not directly used as a grill. Initially, the Konro grill was used as a heating device. Over time, it was discovered that these grills were not only ideal as heaters, but you could also perfectly prepare Yakitori and other foods on them. This Japanese barbecue is made from diatomaceous earth. Diatomaceous earth has the natural ability to spread heat easily and retain it extremely well. When you eat meat from a Japanese BBQ you will notice that it has a fantastic smoke flavor. This is because the meat is only a few inches above the charcoal during grilling. Because of this, the juice of the meat drips down to the grill and evaporates very quickly. This vapor soaks into the food and this gives that wonderful authentic smoke flavor you are looking for.
